84. The Truth About PCOS & Anxiety

PCOS Impacts so much more than your physical body. Did you know that women with PCOS are 3 times (!) more likely to develop anxiety. Additionally, about 1 in every 4 women with PCOS reports depressive symptoms. Studies show that there is a direct connection between PCOS symptoms such as infertility, hirsutism and acne and quality of life.

In honor of PCOS awareness month, I invited licensed marriage and family therapist Selene Burley, LMFT  to the show to discuss all things related to PCOS and anxiety. Selene works with adults struggling with anxiety and depression, and is very open about her own healing journey with both PCOS and anxiety.

Selene shared her personal experience and professional expertise as it related to identifying signs of anxiety, managing anxiety successfully, setting boundaries and seeking therapy when appropriate. We also discussed the impact of factors such as social media, family dynamics, personal relationships as well as self care and compassion on anxiety levels.
